According to the little floating thingy on my iGoogle page, we are 39 weeks pregnant with 8 days left to go.

I think it might be wrong. :D

Mommy and baby are doing great. We all got a bit more rest last night. After breakfast, we spent the morning with dd, just hangin out. C was able to take dd to the 1030 breastfeeding class. Since no dudes are allowed, I went to wash the car (that was on the list for this weekend). Got back in time for the Babies A-Z class, where we were able to give dd a bath. It was great being able to spend so much time with my gals outside of the children’s unit.

After class, we went back for dd’s last round of anti-biotics. Since it was the last round, and we were at 36 hours, we started asking nicely. All we really wanted was to have her stay down in the nursery near us. Not up a floor and over a ton of hallways. Sadly, they could not accommodate our request. But, we did work out a compromise: She’s being transferred back to the NICU.

The NICU is roughly half the walking distance. We’d feel more comfortable, as the nurses and staff inside there have more experience working with newborns. Can’t thank them enough for helping us out.

C took a much appreciated shower and bath. I just dropped her off at the NICU to feed dd. We just missed the call and the transport. Must’ve crossed paths a handful of times there.

C has been given a clean bill of health. She is free to be discharged with dd, as long as dd gets discharged before tomorrow afternoon (insurance companies are businesses, after all). dd is doing just fine. She’s eating, sleeping, and going to the bathroom as expected. Her temperature and color are great. We passed the 24 and 36 hour points and all is well. Once we cross the 48 hour point, we’ll be golden.

Still can’t believe it: we’re parents. I keep saying it, over and over and over again….

Ain’t it cool?

I’m not asking you. I’m reminding me. :) 1

  1. special note on the pics: We haven’t decided, yet, how much we will show of dd publicly. Just as I mask her name, I also mask her image. I can’t control what’s on the net about me these days. But I can her, and the family. If we decide to show more, I assure you, we will flood this place. Thanks for understanding! []

38 weeks, a free day, a camera, and a burger

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

According to the little floating thingy on my iGoogle page, we are 38 weeks pregnant with 15 days left to go. 15 days! As I sit here Saturday morning, typing this up, it hits me: I have 2 more of these mornings left where I won’t have to listen for a cry. wow!

Friday was my day off. As close as we are to birth, we weren’t comfortable C driving herself up. So I drove her in. Dropped her off at the office, then went to my own office. Finished a few things up from the day before. After that was done, I started cleaning up my new office, across the hall from my old office. In 13 months, I have gone from the basement in half cubes, to a decent sized office, to a window office. Dare I saw, I’m growing up?

Saw some birds I didn’t know (which really is like all but 5 of the named birds) outside the window. Speaking of birds, that is going to take some time getting used to: Birds + Windows. You can do the math. 3 times in 10 minutes. Scared the crap out of me.

After I finished up, I went for an oil change, then to Best Buy. I knew some storms were on their way, so I wanted to see if there was anything in there I needed for a good shoot. Since the Canon S3, S5, or EOS won’t fit on my gift card, I wasted a little more time, then took off.

The US Women’s Open is in town this weekend.

I felt bad for them as the storms came through. I flew down to the ski jump, hoping to get some neat shots of the storm. But I spent too much time at Best Buy, so I missed my window. Headphones and hoodie on, I ran out in the rain to get some shots.

This was the best from that series. After this, I saw it was close to time to pick up C, so I went to her office and wandered around her building,

taking pics of the next wave of storms. I really need an S3/S5, just so I can shoot raw. The bracketing is great for interior shots, but useless for exterior. Got lost inside, taking pics of various items to attempt some more HDR processing.

Once she was done with her day, we went over to Babies’R'Us to get some stuff off of our registry. While there, C found the cutest outfit for our baby’s first pictures

but you’re going to have to wait. :) As we checked out, the register appeared happy with our choices

We then went over to USA Baby, a cute little shop off of 77th and Lyndale in Bloomington (East on 77th). Alot of neat little things in there.

Look at the titles of those CDs. If there was one for NIN or Poison, they would have been ours.

Went to dinner at the legendary 5-8 Club, where we treated ourselves to their famous Juicy Lucy (remember this joint mom?).

If you have never had a Juicy Lucy, drop everything and go now. They’re at the NW corner of Cedar/77 and 62. Edina I think. Coming from the south, you have to go north to the first left, then turn around. Just south of Fat Lorenzo’s.

After dinner, we swung by Target and picked up a couple more things, then headed home. On the ride home, I watched a massive storm come to life out west of us. It ended up going far south of us, but it sure was neat to see it!

It was a great day! But an even better night! I got to spend it with my favorite gal!

37 weeks

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

According to the little floating thingy on my iGoogle page, we are 37 weeks pregnant with 22 days left to go. We are full term! Good lord! So if our little one were to decide to come out today, we’d have a fully assembled baby, ready to be packaged up and shipped home.

C is doing wonderfully. Her feet are killin her (which is understandable) and she’s getting more and more achy. But that glow is still radiating from her. I saw the stress of not having the nursery complete leave her the moment it was.

I just love her smile

We had our 2nd and final ultrasound Thursday. It was so cool to almost be able to meet the little one. Apparently, at 8 months pregnant, its hard to get a good picture. Like trying to get a full picture by holding the camera on your nose. Baby’s estimated to be about 7 lbs right now. Doctor’s visit yesterday went well (couldn’t get them scheduled on the same day, unfortunately). No concerns. We’re still on track for July 13th. I’m still betting for July 4th. :)

Today is our baby shower. I’m actually really looking forward to this. It seems to be a trend, having the daddy’s at the showers. Kk and Sk did it for Tk’s shower a couple years back (the last shower we went to that wasn’t ours).

And don’t worry, you still have time to make it to Target or Babies R Us to get us something. :) You can hit Target and Best Buy on the way down here from the cities, just in case. :) Educational videos really should be presented to a growing child in 1080P HD and Dolby 7.1 Surround. Its not for me, its for the baby. So is the iPod Touch, and the Canon EOS 1000D.

Hopefully, this was the last week of sleepless nights caused by putting the house back together for the two of us. The bedroom is back in the bedroom. All the original drapes are up. All the furniture is back in place. Only thing that’s left is to put up the drapes Oz made for the nursery (which I will certainly take pics of and post this weekend). Thursday night, I was up late working on the closet doors. It was fruitless, but check out the moon.

(Note to self – always always always have the tripod with)

This week, I also hope to get into the swing of things with this blogging. I’ve been posting these posts every Saturday morning, half awake, barely able to think. I really should update as I go, and then just proof and post Saturday morning. Maybe next week.

3 words continue to run through my head, when thinking about becoming a daddy in the coming weeks. 3 words that best sum up my mindset of this whole dang thing. 3 words that have been unassigned until now, but always in my head. 3 simple words: Ain’t it cool?

36 weeks

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

According to the little floating thingy on my iGoogle page, we are 36 weeks pregnant with 29 days left to go. C is beginning to get a bit run down, yet she handles it with style and grace.

Busy busy busy. I’ll post more later.
