According to my calculations, calendar, and now my “Ages & Stages” email, DD was 8 weeks old Friday. Almost 2 months! Wow! Mommy and dd are doing fantastically. I’ve had to get to know her all over again this past week. She smiles all the time. A couple times this week, she’s called me at work, just to giggle. If you don’t have a kid, but you’re planning on it, wait til you get that phone call. So, so cool.

Let me try to catch you up on the past couple of weeks. We’ve been super busy, super tired, super happy.

According to my calculations, dd is 6 weeks old today! I’m still in awe of this all. She’s smiling, almost on demand now. And I can tell she has something to say. She’s tried in several extinct languages so far, but has yet to figure out english. I’ll give her some more time. She’s also starting to do that “tracking” thing with her eyes. When we’re dancing, or just walking around the house, we can track her gaze. Pretty neat!

Unfortunately, she’s also learning how to retain the air, but not the food. Hopefully, she’ll figure out soon that letting the gas out and keeping the food in is both more comfortable and filling.

According to my calendar, dd is 5 weeks old today¹! Wow! Where did the time go?? You guys weren’t lying: time really does fly.

5 weeks ago, our lives changed dramatically. Here we are now, and it feels like this is how it has always been. Amazing. I used to do the weekly C updates when dd was still “cooking”. After a 5 week hiatus, I’m bringin it back! To, at the very least, let you know what’s been going on in dd’s life. Its hard to talk about what’s happened over the past 5 weeks because there’s just so dang much. Just covered the past week yesterday. Mind if I just direct you to all the posts from the past 5 weeks, and start fresh today?

Today, we’ll be going up to the cities again. DD will have a blast. Not 100% sure if we’ll go to the Zoo, Irish Fest, or just putz around. C and I are good at doing nothing, together, all day long. So perhaps dd will inherit that adventurous trait we have. I’ll be sure to let you know what we ended up doing.

I think the rest of the weekend, we’ll just hang out and look at each other. Maybe we’ll dance. Maybe we’ll go for a walk or 3. Maybe we’ll party like its 1999 (they say two thousand zero zero party over. Oops, out of time). We’ll just wing it. The one thing C and I are most definitely going to do is finish decorating dd’s nursery. 4 more pictures and the “grid”. I’ll show you a picture or seventeen when we’re all done.

And now she’s awake, so I’m going to go hang out with her.

1. I felt like shit for her birthday post. No excuse there. None. I missed an opportunity, and refuse to rectify it by going back and editing it, a la minitrue. So I’m going to make it a point to at least do the weeklies. Bear with me as these posts come together. I’m trying to figure out what info I should put up here on a weekly basis. Any suggestions? [↩]
