Happy Birthday America!

And so we begin. Soon….

15.5 hours ago, when we walked through the door, we didn’t expect to still be here.

tick tock tick tock

I have that “exhausted anticipation” thing going on. Can’t sleep. Can barely stay awake.

C’s in and out of sleep too. Her temp rose a bit more than the doc wanted it to over these last few hours. The antibiotics should help bring that back to a more manageable level.

Sonja is here. She’s out smokin right now (a thing I miss still, but am glad I quit).

2 hours left until the birth of our nation. A few hours ago, we were expecting to be holding our little one by now. I guess the baby is more like his/her mommy: their own schedule. But if he/she can wait another 2 hours, then I win the bet.

Born on the 4th of July… wasn’t that a Tom Cruise movie?

We’re all ready to meet our little bundle of joy. Soon enough, we will…

tick tock tick tock. Since the clocks are digital, I have to make that sound myself.

We last checked about 20 minutes ago. C’s up to 8CM now and doing great. She’s sleeping… well… like a baby. To those who are on the fence about epidurals, allow this to be your proof that they work. Before this, she was diggin nails and writhing in pain. After getting it, she sleeps through it all (typical!).

I would reflect at this point, but I think I’ve run out of reflection points to see. So I’ll just tune out and listen to the Rat Pack and chat with Oz. I’d like to nap, but I’ve failed thus far. Did sneak some random pics up a bit earlier. Click Pics, then Hospital.

Oz just pointed out: we’ve been here 11.5 hours. Doesn’t feel like it… yet it does. weird.

To those who want(ed) to call, my battery is about done for. So if you get an odd call from a 612 number, that’s me on one of the other phones here.

Its 124PM as I start this post. Been a busy morning. As I type, I look up and see this

10 hours ago when C woke me up, I didn’t think I’d be sitting right here, awaiting the birth of our first child. I thought we’d be in and out. Right now, she’d be working on some documents, tired as can be. I’d be tucked away in some dark corner, fixing a computer or building something. We’d drive home, joke about this morning, and work our tails off to get stuff done that we’ve been putting off.

Surprise! Seems our little one had other plans. Doc said yesterday that we were on track for our due date…. 10 days away. He was wrong. Silly rabbit.

Wow…. The next time we walk into our home, we will have our baby with us!
