In other unrelated news…
For those of you who didn’t know (or didn’t check the about page), we live in the balmy, subtropical state of Minnesota. The land of 10,000 11,842 lakes. As you can imagine, fishing and boating are pretty big around here.
St. Paul was chosen to be the host of the 2008 Republican National Convention. If you’ve turned on a TV or looked at any news site, I’m sure you knew this already. While short of riots, the protesting is getting a bit out of hand, especially with the inclusion of these “anarchy” guys, the RNC Welcoming Committee.
Without giving my opinion on the whole thing1, I’ve noticed that the protests are creating some fantastic photo opportunities. I’d love to grab a couple of cameras, some water and granola bars, and spend a day down there shooting pics. But we have dd, and she’s far more interesting to me.
But I did see this morning that the protesters got out of hand last night again. The riot cops shut them down near Mickey’s Diner. When I saw the image on the news, I thought to myself “I sure hope someone took pics of that!”. They did:
