According to my calculations, dd is 6 weeks old today! I’m still in awe of this all. She’s smiling, almost on demand now. And I can tell she has something to say. She’s tried in several extinct languages so far, but has yet to figure out english. I’ll give her some more time. She’s also starting to do that “tracking” thing with her eyes. When we’re dancing, or just walking around the house, we can track her gaze. Pretty neat!
Unfortunately, she’s also learning how to retain the air, but not the food. Hopefully, she’ll figure out soon that letting the gas out and keeping the food in is both more comfortable and filling.
Here’s how her 5th week in this life of ours panned out (trying to cut down on the size of the main page here for the bandwidth challenged).
Saturday
Saturday, after an exciting but exhausting Friday, we just hung out. Did very little. We all slept in. C and Oz went up to Hands of Friendship in New Prague for a few hours, let dd and I just hang out. After once again trying to solve Pi, we ended up just looking at each other. Perhaps we’ll tackle that again later.
Mommy and Oz returned with swag in hand. A bunch of cute outfits for dd when she gets a little bigger, and some stuff for the house. After the showing, we continued our pursuit of just hanging out. At some point in the afternoon,we walked over to G&Gs for some quality gg/dd time. Ended the night with some light reading…
And a Corona with a lime.
Sunday
Are you sitting down? Sunday started out with something we haven’t done for a while. We went to church. Yes, church. Went back to the church we were married at, so that dd could get used to it. She will be baptized there soon. As always, a great service.
After church, we cruised around for a little bit, then ended up at Whiskey River in St. Peter for brunch. Not too bad. We figured that if we were there before lunch, it might have been better. Live and learn? dd was a peach until the end, when she decided it was time for her to eat too. The whole restaurant knew soon after that she was hungry. Glad to hear her lungs are developing nicely.
After lunch(es), we ended up walking over to again G&G’s for some more hanging out. Took some pics there this time.
Monday
And back to work I go. I’m not enjoying the leaving her and c home part, but I know its necessary, and I dig my job. So after a long day, I made it home to their loving arms. Dr. D and his daughter J stopped by so she could meet dd. During their visit, the gas army that slowly built up within dd decided to launch their attack. Dr. D took control and calmed her down. He has that effect on kids (or at least dd).
Tuesday
Tuesday, we called the “lets go eat chicken at BW3″ meeting. C+dd, Oz and Dr. D all came. LoD was already there, as was Sonja. I believe we ordered 110 wings? Fantastic stuff, fantastic time, fantastic company. Took quite a few pics, including LoD as the serial killer.
In due time, dd will be spokeswoman for BW3. Finished the night up with some Culver’s Ice Cream. Let me assure you, double Heath topping on vanilla ice cream is not as good as it seems.
Made it home kinda late, and dd stayed up even later. Gas army still lingering.
Wednesday
Wednesday, we took a walk around town just as the sun was setting…
I ♥ the skies in Minnesota. If you’ve never seen a sunset or sunrise here, search flickr. Simply amazing.
Thursday
Enjoyed dinner with my best two gals after some errand running.
And here we are at today. Normally, I’m in the office today. But after a long week, I requested today off to spend some time with my girls. This week flew for me. Part of me loved the fact that the days went so fast. Part of me didn’t. Time really does get away from you if you’re not paying attention.
Here’s the pics from the week, for your viewing pleasure.
