I am pleased to announce that, as of yesterday, we now know all there is to know about babies. We are fully prepared to bring our child into this world, thanks the 6 hour class entitled “All About Babies”. Yep, we’re set.
Saturday started off with a bang, quite literally.
After the storm passed, which was pretty intense1, we cruised up to the cities to attend class. Twas a blast. We apparently set two records for our teacher:
- Most Mothers of Twins (3)
- Most Mothers expecting from Surrogates (2)
One of the Moms via Surrogate is actually one of the Twin sets. Twas so cool! Class covered Interaction, bathing2, crying, safety, and other stuff that today I’m drawing a blank on (don’t worry, we have paperwork). The teacher was really fun and super informative. The class was just like a boot camp to me (remember, I’m a techie). We’re far from truly prepared, but we have added more info to our arsenal.
An event of note yesterday. A culinary milestone, if you will. I have lived in the Twin Cities Area now for nearly 4 years. Back in Chicago, I had my hot dog joint, my sandwich shop, and my greasy spoon. They were constants, and at my beck and call any time I needed “good” food. Since moving up here, I have been deprived of the commercially available “oh my god” foods3. Mickey’s is great. JT’s and Gopher Bar are great too. But none have reached my OMG level…. until yesterday. Seventh Heaven in St. Paul (corner of Fort and Leech (7th Street W) near United Hospital). Their Italian Beef Sub, Chicago style, brought a tear to my eye and has risen to the top of the heap in my eternal quest for perfection from a commercial joint.
So back on track here….. After class, we headed over to Home Depot (my other toy store) to pick up some necessities. From there, over to JcPenny to pick up our crib (yay!!). After that, over to Target to update our registry (ahem: hint hint) and pick up the mattress. Then finally over to JoAnn’s Fabric for, well, fabric.
Got home much later than anticipated. But on the ride home, Picasso and Van Gogh kept painting the sky. Unbelievable, the show mother nature put on for us (see flickr). Dropped C off at Oz’s, unloaded the truck at home, relaxed at Oz’s for a bit, then finally: We slept at home last night!
Yep, life is finally starting to get back on track. Sunday, our plan of attack is as follows:
- Touch Up paint in the Master and Nursery
- Move as much furniture back into the rooms as possible
- Floor trim for Nursery
- Put house back in order
I’ll report back tomorrow.
