Saturday was far more laid back than Friday. We started the day off slowly. Breakfast and just hanging out for a while. We had planned on taking the Alamo Trolley Tour, but thought that the schedule would have been more like San Francisco. Turns out, the trolley’s here run every hour (for the tour). As it was late in the day, we opted not to do them. We checked out the Alamo (which was pretty neat), then figured we would take our own trolly adventure. Hopped on the Purple line and took that out to Market Square. Feeling how jarring that ride was, I’m glad we didn’t take the hopper. It would’ve been hell on C.
Market Square was pretty neat too. Its out on the west end of town, and is about 3 or 4 full blocks of ethnic market. Just so happens that we arrived during the Cinco De Mayo festivities. The food looked good, but nothing really caught my eye. We checked out the shops inside, had a turkey leg, looked at the Almeda Museum, then walked back towards downtown.
On the way, we met a couple of shaky ladies, maybe in their 50s. Reminded me of a Texan version of Lavernne and Shirley on meth. Anyways, we chatted about the O. Henry house for a few minutes. They informed us that the Alamo was moved to its current location. Used to be across the street, but at some point they moved it to make room for expansion. Good to know.
We then continued our journy east to the San Fernando Cathedral. Pretty on the outside. Didn’t get to see the inside as there was a wedding going on. But I know that mass is at 10 and 12 today (its 8 now, and we’re not ready yet), so we might try to make one. Here is the view of the cathedral from our balcony.

After that, we walked back to the riverwalk, and then back to the hotel. I’m a bit of an adventurer, and forgot how hard I was pushing C. So we went up for some much needed rest. After an hour or two (at which time I finished up yesterday’s post), we went for a walk again. We took the riverwalk north to its end, then turned back to catch the river taxi.

Travel Tips by D: If you visit San Antonio, hop a river taxi and ride as long as you can. You get such a great view of a majority of the walk for $4 each.
We rode the taxi for about 45 minutes or so. From the north end back through the “heart” of the walk, up to the River Center Mall (the river actually turns around inside the freakin mall), then back up north. We ended up hopping off near the Hard Rock Cafe to get some Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. Made it up there to find there was a leak and they had to close. Ah well. Footed it over to Haagen Daaz. She had Butter Pecan. I had Rocky Road. We walked back down the riverwalk to our hotel, and promptly passed out.
Today, mom comes to see her grandbaby still in its wrapping. She is going to be so happy!
