Wednesday night, I had 5 hours of work to finish in 3. The floor guy was scheduled to come Thursday morning, and we I still had stuff in the bedrooms that needed to be taken out/finished up. So I gave C a kiss goodnight up at Oz’s, and got to work about 10pm. Crawled into bed “early” again. Just about 2am. But everything was done. The rooms were ready. Woke up to the phone ringing a full 1.5 hours after my alarm should have gone off. Gotta remember the little dot means PM, not AM. I haven’t gotten ready that quickly in a long time.
Talked to the floor guy, and let him know the key was up at Oz’s work. She got there about 820 or so, and he was waiting. Had we known he would be so eager to get started, I would have left him the key here.
We got home last night after some much needed chiropractic care. We weren’t sure how the fumes would be, so I came in alone to get our “stuffs”. Good thing too. The fumes were pretty heavy. Went to check out the rooms. Couldn’t really tell, as the fumes damn near knocked me on my ass as soon as I opened the bedroom door. He left the lights on, and now I can see why1. So I slept on Oz’s couch (full size bed there. Pregnant wife who is used to our king. who needs the comfort more?).
Today, I plan to finish up the guest bath. Though I’m worried. The fumes are rather heavy today, and I’m in my office, on the opposite end of the house, 1 floor down. I can feel the fumes getting to me as I type (which is why there will be typos and not my usual style). Maybe I should change this to “respirator friday”. And the plumber will be here too, to tackle our issue.
But what I saw through the window this morning amazed me. He did a fan-freaking-tastic job so far. I would consider them done, but I know he still has 1, if not 2 more coats of poly to do. I can’t wait to see how they will look when he’s done! Don’t worry, I’ll show you too.
- he has a key to the house, sole proprietor. Like me, he’ll work late/overnight. A quick stop in, look through the window, will tell him if its ready for coat 2/3 [↩]
